Christabel Jackson

I am an experienced musician and educator from Nottingham, England. After completing my Music degree at the University of Birmingham and a Masters in Musicology at City University, London, I went on to administrate the Jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music and volunteered on artistic and teaching projects in Kenya and Peru. I now call Barcelona home, where I teach music at the European International School of Barcelona and continue to perform and compose in both local and international projects.

I studied piano at Birmingham Conservatoire with composer James Walker and have been fortunate to learn from leading jazz musicians and educators such as Hugh Fraser and Pete Churchill through masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music and musician residencies. I trained in Soundpainting, the live composing technique, with its creator Walter Thompson, performing with the Soundpainting Orchestra of Catalunya and Ensemble B.

I have led teacher‑training workshops for Music teachers throughout Spain in composition and improvisation on behalf of Trinity College London. I am a qualified EFL teacher and Music Therapist.

I am passionate about bringing enjoyment and engagement to the music classroom and empowering others to do the same.
