Film & TV Compositions
Original compositions
My first notated composition written when I was fifteen, for SA choir and piano/organ. It has been performed in public several times. This is a performance by the Keyworth Choir as part of their Christmas Carol concert in 1994. Many thanks to my school music teacher, Mrs Eddon, for her encouragement to pursue composition further.
The verses sung on this recording are from the poem Winter by Walter de la Mare. I wrote some alternative verses which fit the tune better but I don't know what happened to them.
Film music seeking a film!
Apologies for the poor sound quality - recorded at a time when I knew even less about sound engineering! Although maybe now it sounds kinda retro...

Suite of compositions including A Space Between, my favourite from a piano solo album I recorded in 2003.
I composed my first piece aged six, entitled "The Witch". I took it to my piano teacher and I will never forgive her for dismissing it outright and telling me to get on with learning how to read "middle C". I understand now that it was outside of her comfort zone and therefore something alien and to be discouraged. I often wonder what path I would have followed if she had encouraged, rather than ridiculed, this early attempt at musical creativity, and this experience has informed my teaching ever since.
